Tom DeBacco | CEO/Chairman

Tom is co-founder of Essenza Software. Tom is an industry leader and serial entrepreneur, having started and founded three other successful software companies prior to Essenza. He began his software career in 1981 as a sales and marketing executive for Innovative Software, a start-up application software company. By the early 1990s, Tom had spent time living in London setting up international operations for Innovative Software, Informix Software, and Fox Software.

More recently, Tom was co-founder and CEO of iModules Software since its founding in 2002 and building it into a leading SaaS educational software company by the time he left in 2012. In October 2014, iModules was acquired by Leeds Equity based in New York City.   

A graduate of both Rockhurst High School and Rockhurst University, Tom serves as a Board Trustee and Regent. Tom also is very active in angel investing and mentoring entrepreneurs in and around the Kansas City area.  


Tyson Brown | President/CTO

Tyson is a co-founder of Essenza Software. Tyson has over 20 years in the software technology industry with over 14 years working on SaaS platforms. Most recently, Tyson was the CTO of iModules Software where he had been a leading architect from the founding in 2002. Tyson's expertise in designing and building leading SaaS software was the foundation for the success of iModules encompass solution. Prior to iModules, Tyson served as a software engineer at Sprint in Overland Park, KS. Tyson's passion for building best in class web based SaaS solutions lead to co-founding Essenza Software in the summer of 2012.


James Harrell | CCO

James has over 20 years in design and commercial art industries. Over 15 years delivering web design solutions utilizing SaaS technologies. Most recently, James was Creative Director and managed the creative and professional services teams at iModules Software. Prior to iModules, James was a web designer at VML and multimedia designer at Sprint.

Craig Hughey | Vice President of Product

Craig has over 15 years of experience in the software technology industry with a majority of his sales career focused on SaaS platforms. Most recently, Craig was the Vice President Product at Netchemia/PeopleAdmin where he led product management.  Prior to that, Craig spent time at Perceptive Software and iModules Software.


Michael Skahan | Vice President of Sales, Higher Ed

Michael has over 17 years of experience in the software technology industry with a majority of his sales career focused on SaaS platforms. Most recently, Michael was the Vice President of Business Development at DanCo Systems, Inc., where he led sales and business partnerships. Previously, Michael spent 7 years at iModules Software where he focused on successfully building a client base that positioned iModules as the leader in their respective market.

Curtis Krizek, Managing Partner Prairie Capital Management

Curtis is Chairman, Managing Director and a founder of Prairie Capital and for more than twenty years has founded and advised successful private equity firms. Prior to forming Prairie Capital, Curtis practiced law for over a decade. Curtis serves, or has served, on the boards of various organizations, including The University of Virginia Jefferson Scholars Foundation Advisory Board, The REACH Healthcare Foundation, and the Kansas State University Foundation. He graduated from Kansas State University with a B.S. in Life Sciences (Honors Program, Phi Kappa Phi), and received a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.

Matt Anthony, CEO Young & Rubicam (a WPP Company)

Matt is CEO of Y&R North America. Prior to joining Y&R in March 2013 Matt was CEO/Chairman of VML ( which is a WPP company. As a founding partner at VML, Matt directed a traditional agency model into a worldwide digital agency working with many of the Fortune 500 companies in developing and delivering their interactive digital presence.

Matt is an active Board member of the American Association of Advertising Agencies (commonly known as the Four A’s). In 2010, Matt was named Advertising Professional of the Year by the American Advertising Federation of Kansas City for lifetime contributions to the advertising and marketing profession.

Throughout his career, Matt has been a tireless supporter of philanthropic endeavors and community causes. In memory of his brother Chris, who suffered from a glioblastoma brain tumor and died in 2003 at the age of 37, Matt and his family established the Head for the Cure Foundation to raise awareness and funding for brain cancer research. The annual highlight is the Head for the Cure 5K Run & Walk held each fall; proceeds from the event support the Chris Anthony Brain Tumor Research Fund and the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative (BTTC). In addition, Matt has numerous philanthropic volunteer board positions, including the MD Anderson Cancer Center Board of Visitors (Houston, Texas), Council on Foreign Relations, Head for the Cure Foundation, Turning Point and VML Foundation.
